Joseph Shallal

One of the founders of the firm, Joseph Shallal is a commercial transactions attorney who represents clients in business and real estate matters such as commercial real estate sales and acquisitions, business entity formation and consulting, commercial lease negotiations and lease drafting, tenant evictions, business sales and acquisitions, and restaurant, convenience store, and hotel alcoholic beverage licensing.

Mr. Shallal has decades of experience in alcoholic beverage licensing and has been involved in more than one thousand matters, including hearings, appeals, and trials. He has assisted clients with liquor license procurement and transfers, violation hearings, licensing appeals, regulatory compliance, and court-ordered receiverships over licensed businesses. He is well-versed in licensing requirements and processes at both the state and local levels throughout southeastern Michigan, and has obtained the zoning, site plan, land use, and variance approvals required of liquor-licensed businesses.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Joe had twenty years of practical business operations experience. His business background includes the management of family-owned supermarkets and convenience stores. This background gave him considerable experience in strategic planning, system controls, employee management, corporate administration, real estate leasing and acquisitions, and business sales and acquisitions.

Mr. Shallal has a Bachelor of Science in Operations Management from Wayne State University and a Juris Doctor, cum laude from Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University. He is a licensed builder and a licensed real estate broker. Mr. Shallal has served as an instructor of Business Law at Henry Ford Community College.
