University of Michigan officials handed out more referrals for liquor law violations on campus in 2013 than in 2012, but crime on campus is down, according to an annual report released Tuesday.According to the annual report, there were 1,234 liquor law violations that resulted in referrals to non-police agencies for disciplinary action in 2013. That’s a 31.3 percent increase from 2012, when that number was 941. Mary Jo Desprez, director of Wolverine Wellness, said there was no special enforcement that led to the increase and any number of factors, such as an extra home football game or the weather on Halloween and St. Patrick’s Day could have played into the increase.
